C’était une nuit a souvenir…
(It was a night to remember…)

Our 2016 Gala, Voyage dans laLune, has come and gone, but we are still awestruck (or should we say moonstruck) by what a fantastic evening it was!

A HUGE merci beaucoup to everyone who supported the Gala, and in particular the sponsors, donors, and army of volunteers who came together to make sure the evening was as perfect and as magical as we wanted it to be for our guests. And as you can see from the photographs - thanks to John Hall - a grand time was had by all.

Our Honorary Chair, Gregor Trumel, Consul Général de France, lent the parfait finishing French touch to the Gala with his presence and his remarks. Lisa Shedlock and Lynette DuFrene chaired the event, and a bevy of committee chairs and their teams were busy abeilles, putting the finishing touches on every element. Auction chair Jane Krug outdid herself with a stunning set of silent auction items and covet-worthy live auction offerings. VCPORA President Pat Meadowcroft served as entertainment chair and lined up the fantastic Tiffany Baira and Alan Baily & Natasha. Food chair Kathy Hebert made sure we had a stellar line-up of restaurants. Beverage chair Jenna Burke ensured all thirsts were slaked. Meg Lousteau designed the invitations – gorgeously printed by the fine folks at MPress, and, with Jill McGaughey, created the auction program, which was beautifully done by Garrity Solutions.

Chef John Bel of Meauxbar wowed our patron guests with a tantalizing array of comestibles. Old New Orleans Rum kept parched guests happy with their Creole Moon specialty cocktail, and provided bottles of limited edition King Creole rum as patron door prizes (with gift cards from our neighbors atMr. Gregory’s added as lagniappe).Angeline offered another specialty cocktail concoction called the Porch Swing. Those preferring a full bar experience were ably helped by Mark Schettler and Pour Toi.

The live auction was a tremendous success, thanks to two key ingredients: the suave skills of auctioneer Taylor Eichenwald, and truly out-of-this-world items to bid on. We had a stay in Playa del Carmen, courtesy ofRobert Merrick of Latter & Blum; an ethereal original oil painting by French Quarter artist Fredrick Guess, given by the artist himself; a stay at the Shanghai Ritz-Carlton thanks to Jarel Portman; and, from Michalopoulos Gallery, an original oil painting by artist James Michalopoulos featuring his signature architectural style.

Of course, the setting was the crucial element to the sublime ambiance, and we are so grateful to Ann Masson and Annie Irvin,as well as the entire board and staff of the Beauregard-Keyes House for making their gem available to us. Décor chairJennifer Kelly added lunar touches to the house to enhance the theme. Kim Wise Floral Events created a jaw-dropping centerpiece. Adding to the celestial atmosphere were Shotgun Cinema’s Angela Catalano and Travis Bird, who showed the original
