Patron Party
From their website: “Jazzacadabra is an original jazz project, inspired by the height of jazz from the 1910s through the 1950s. When melodies were memorable and every hit song in a musical became a jazz standard. When recording was not widespread and live performances were the norm. The songwriter behind Jazzacadabra is Alan Bailey, who tired of playing the standard jazz tunes written by songwriters from long ago, while also admiring the composition techniques. Jazzacadabra currently has a repertoire in a variety of styles, from swings and sambas, to ballads and bossa novas.”
The duo will be performing at our Patron Party, Thursday September 24th in the Paris Room at Café Soulé.
Gala
from her website: “Sarah Quintana is a singer-songwriter from New Orleans with a background rich in jazz, folk and popular music. She is a charming performer, devoted guitarist and a truly gifted singer. She attended the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, NOCCA and graduated from Loyola University with a degree in English and French. Quintana splits her time between the US and France, working with saxophonist Raphael Imbert and touring on her own repertoire with French and American jazz musicians.”
Sarah will be showcasing her French talents as guests arrive on the first floor of the Napoleon House on Sunday, September 27th.
from her website: “Today, Banu (bah’new) Gibson stands virtually at the top of her field. A superior and swinging jazz singer, Banu is one of the few vocalists of her generation to maintain exclusive loyalty to songs of the 1920s, ’30s, and ’40s. Rather than mimic singers of the past, she mixes fresh renditions of Tin Pan Alley standards and jazz classics by Gershwin, Ellington, Berlin, Carmichael, Waller, Porter, et al. A powerful force on stage, her enthusiasm and showmanship are highlighted by her wide range and versatility. With an extensive repertoire of songs, Banu’s performances cover many high points of America’s golden age of popular music.”
Banu will perform these classics in the upstairs ballrooms at the Napoleon House on Sunday, September 27th.

Original painting of Paris by artist Fredrick Guess
Created especially for VCPORA’s Gala, the painting features a Paris street scene, with an Art Nouveau Métro entrance. From the artist’s website: “In 1997, Guess decided to move to New Orleans, the city that held his imagination since his first trip here at the age of fourteen. He opened the Fredrick Guess Studio on world famous Royal Street in the middle of the French Quarter. The Fredrick Guess Studio doubles as both retail gallery and working studio. In the studio, he enjoys meeting clientele from the world over, many of whom have become dear friends.
