VCPORA 28th Annual Mothers’ Day Concert & Picnic

Vieux Carré Property Owners, Residents, and Associates will host their 28th annual Mother’s Day Concert & Picnic  Sunday, May 10 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Cabrini Park. Bring your mom, picnic basket, lawn chairs, blankets, and dancing shoes to the park in the heart of the residential French Quarter for an afternoon of fun.

 American revivalist ensemble New Leviathan Oriental Foxtrot Orchestra will delight the crowd this year with turn of the century ragtime, jazz, and maritime standards. Although we love them, please leave the pets at home. This year, enter our Mothers’ Day Hat Contest! Gates will open at 3:00 p.m. For liability reasons, please leave pets at home.

History

Since 1997, VCPORA has proudly presented the annual Mother’s Day Concert in Cabrini Park. This Sunday afternoon concert in the public park on corner of Dauphine and Barracks Streets in the interior of the French Quarter is a family friendly event that features a live performance by the beloved New Leviathan Oriental Foxtrot Orchestra, which entertains the crowd with their lively set of vintage American music including fox-trots, two-steps, marches, jazz and blues numbers.  The event is always free and open to the public and guests are encouraged to bring picnic baskets, lawn chairs, blankets, dancing shoes and, of course, their Mom for an afternoon of fun in the park. For the young ones, VCPORA provides a face painter and the new playground equipment in the park is a great on-site attraction.

How to Support

VCPORA solicits sponsorships who receive acknowledgment and space for their logo on promotional materials, including those posted in our newsletter, on our website, social media and press releases, as well as posters at the park preceding this event. We additionally provide table space for our sponsors during the event and encourage a knowledgeable sponsor representative attend with promotional materials.

The Mothers’ Day Concert is a free and accessible way to engage with the French Quarter as a neighborhood by gathering in a spirit of family and festivity in one of the French Quarter’s underutilized neighborhood parks.

As one of the state’s largest economic assets, the preservation and protection of the Vieux Carré affects every family in Louisiana. It is incumbent upon us all to steward and protect this historic community as a mother would her home. We invite everyone to join VCPORA on this beautiful day in May to collectively celebrate all our mothers as one big Vieux Carré family.
