2026 VCPORA Board Nominations

Dear Members,

It is that time of year again: an opportunity for you to help shape the future of VCPORA by nominating candidates for our Board of Directors.

We invite your thoughtful suggestions through the VCPORA Board Member Nomination Form. You are welcome to nominate yourself. If you nominate someone else, please confirm that they are willing to serve before submitting their name.

Since 1938, VCPORA has worked to preserve and protect the Vieux Carré. Nearly nine decades later, the strength of our organization—and our ability to continue this important work—depends on the commitment and dedication of an engaged Board of Directors.

General Expectations of VCPORA Board Members

VCPORA Board members are expected to:

• Be dues-paying members of VCPORA at any membership level.
• Support the mission, goals, and work of VCPORA.
• Participate actively in Board meetings and organizational activities.
• Help advance VCPORA’s advocacy and preservation efforts.
• Serve on at least one committee and contribute time and expertise throughout the year.
• Work collaboratively with fellow Board members and staff to carry out projects and initiatives.
• Help strengthen and grow the organization by engaging others who share VCPORA’s commitment to the Vieux Carré.
• Disclose and avoid conflicts of interest that could affect their ability to participate fairly and independently in VCPORA’s work.

We are looking for dedicated individuals who are willing to provide leadership, contribute their ideas and expertise, work strategically as part of a team, and help build a stronger organization for the future.

The Board meets monthly on the first Tuesday of each month, from 6:00 p.m. until approximately 7:30 p.m. Board members are also expected to participate in one or more committees throughout the year. Current committees include:

• Advocacy & Legal Committee
• Community Engagement Committee
• Membership & Development Committee
• Finance Committee
• Gala Committee
• Additional committees and working groups, as needed

Yes, serving on the VCPORA Board requires a commitment of time and energy. But it is also an incredibly rewarding opportunity to help care for, advocate for, and protect one of the most important historic districts in the world.

We hope you will consider nominating someone, or putting your own name forward, to help lead VCPORA into its next chapter.

Only those suggestions received in writing can be considered. Please submit your nominations via mail or email by Friday, August 21st. (Sooner is even more helpful.) The new slate of directors will be voted on by the general membership at our annual meeting in October or November.
