North Rampart Safety Improvements

We hope you have noticed the recent improvements on N. Rampart Street between Toulouse and St. Phillip (If you haven’t, go check them out!). The French Quarter Management District is thrilled to announce the completion of the first round of pedestrian and cycle safety improvements on this important corridor. This work comes from the FQMD Livability Committee, co-chaired by Erin Holmes of VCPORA, in partnership with the City of New Orleans and the State Legislation.

The full package of improvements included two flashing crosswalk beacons at St. Ann and St. Phillip, flex posts protecting the bike lane and corner no-parking zones, and painted curb extensions and new green bike path.

A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, August 14th at 10:00 am. Read the press release here. An extra special thank you goes to Committee member, Antonio Carbone, and resident, Jennifer Preston, for keeping the project on track!

But wait, we are not finished and want to hear from you! We are gathering community feedback via this survey, to better understand what should be prioritized next, because these efforts are just the beginning.
