VCPORA Events Coordinator, 2025

Organization Description

Founded in 1938, Vieux Carré Property Owners, Residents, and Associates (VCPORA) is one
of the oldest architectural and community preservation non-profits in the United States. Our
mission is the preservation, restoration, beautification, and general betterment of the Vieux
Carré (French Quarter). We serve as advocates for sound planning and zoning rules, the
protection of historic architecture, and the quality of life for residents.
We accomplish this by speaking out and engaging the community on issues of zoning, land use,
architecture, infrastructure, sustainable tourism, and residential livability. In addition, we host
educational programs that promote preservation and historic understanding, as well as social
events that connect neighbors and celebrate the residential character of the French Quarter.

Position Summary

VCPORA is seeking a well-organized, energetic, and personable Events Coordinator to plan,
manage, and execute the organization’s fundraising and outreach events. This role is essential
to VCPORA’s success and financial sustainability, ensuring that our annual events are not only
effective fundraisers but also engaging community experiences.

VCPORA’s Events Coordinator will oversee all aspects of event production, from logistics and
marketing to sponsorships and volunteer management, while collaborating closely with the
Executive Director, VCPORA Staff, Board members, committees, and volunteers. This position
is ideal for someone who thrives on bringing people together, juggling multiple projects, and
contributing to the vitality of New Orleans’ most historic neighborhood.

Primary Responsibilities

Event Management & Execution

Plan, coordinate, and execute VCPORA events, including but not limited to:
o Annual Gala
o At Home in the Vieux Carré series
o Garden Party
o Schwartz-Gage Awards
o Morrison Lecture (with partner organizations)
o Mother’s Day Concert

-Handle logistics (venue, catering, entertainment, décor, rentals, equipment).
-Manage ticketing, RSVPs, guest lists, and on-site registration.
-Maintain and refine event procedures for future planning and evaluation.
-Generate new program opportunities for VCPORA and partners.
-Marketing & Promotion
-Develop and implement promotional strategies for each event.

-Produce press releases, social media campaigns, email invitations, and print materials.
-Seek media coverage and maintain consistent, positive public messaging.

Development & Fundraising
-Work with the Executive Director, Board, and committees to meet fundraising goals.
-Solicit sponsors, in-kind donors, and vendors; track commitments and recognition.
-Cultivate donor relationships for long-term engagement and growth.

Volunteer Management
-Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for event support.
-Maintain a volunteer database and ensure a steady pipeline of assistance.
-Innovation & Community Engagement
-Propose and implement new programming aligned with VCPORA’s mission.
-Collaborate with staff and the Board to align events with broader organizational goals.
-Represent VCPORA at networking and partnership-building events across the city.

Administrative & Office Support
-Support daily office operations, including supplies and equipment.
-Maintain organizational calendars and assist with staff/board scheduling.

Professional Qualifications
-2–3 years of experience in event planning, nonprofit development, or a related field.

-Strong organizational and project management skills.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
-Proficiency with social media, email marketing platforms, and basic graphic design.
-Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
-Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
-Passion for historic preservation and/or community advocacy a strong plus.

Position Details
Reports to: Executive Director
Status: Full-time, permanent; paid holidays and annual leave after six months; evening
and weekend work required on occasion.
Salary: $47,000–$52,000, commensurate with experience.
